Ascension Contest

Another little secret: no one knows I entered the flash fiction contest at Clarity of Night. While there's no chance on an escalator that I won anything, I had such fun feeling like part of a community of writers. If you haven't read the entries, you must! You'll discover a secret worth sharing. Be sure to read Sarah Hina, Jaye Wells, and Jason Evans' posts. Outstanding!

  1. Yay-you have a blog! I loved your entry for the Ascension contest. And I love the idea of this blog as a "secret" thing. Do you think you will really keep it secret from your husband and daughter?

  2. Jennifer! I can't believe you read this! I really thought no one would want to read it, and for that reason, it would stay totally secret.

I've been trawling (sounds ominous, doesn't it?) the blogs since November without having the courage to jump in. And truly, no one in my life knows except one of my dearest, oldest friends, whose blog I follow and whom I haven't seen in 30 years.

I loved your entry, too and have been reading your blog, as well.

Thanks for stopping by. Our secret!

  3. The secret's out. The great thing about Jason's contest is the reactions from readers. Also, I like to re-read the winning entries to see what worked. With only 250 words, each word has to count (literally). Good luck.

  8. I'm going to read your entry later when I have time. For now, let it be on the record, that I used to keep my blog secret from my family. They knew I had one, but not the url, etc. I needed that "safe space" to be anonymous!

  9. Thank you to all who are encouraging me to write. I have not created anything for such a long time, but and through you and my renewed acquaintance with K. Lawson-Gilbert, I am also becoming reacquainted with part of myself again.

GeL -- My secret truly is secret for the same reason you kept yours. Maybe someday I'll have the courage to let the family in on it, but for now, it's sort of nice to have something of my own.
