I hope you'll understand that I haven't been around much lately. This is my newest love, Juliet Catherine. She was an hour old here. Notice that Grammy looks a little haggard - but relieved and so very grateful.
For Juliet
Blessings like velvet
rabbit soft upon my skin
swaddle me in love.
Awww, precious. Blessings, O Blessings, dear friend. I am so happy for all of you. I love her name - so fitting a sweet little angel. You look wonderful and content. How could you not? Please give my congratulations to all the family. Tell F how happy I am for him. Look how far a journey we have all come. Unbelievable! I am so happy for you Karen! Please give Juliet a kiss for me.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Karen!!! I'm known as "Grammy", too. Is this your first grand-one? I have one girl (Mary Mace will be 6 years old on Christmas Eve), Warner (her brother) is 2 1/2 and Taylor (my oldest daughter's only child) is 13. I wish you nothing but JOY and happiness with your gorgeous Juliet! Love & Blessings!!! (And get you some rest!)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! Juliet is such a beautiful name. I'm so looking foward to grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! You may look tired, but you sure look happy.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your precious grandbaby. May you and Juliet have many more beautiful bonding moments such as this one- maybe minus the tiredness though. Hope everyone is well. Good night~
ReplyDeleteOh, Karen!!! What a beautiful baby girl, and what a precious photo of the two of you. Seeing it just made my night.
ReplyDeleteA huge congratulations to you and your entire family! And I really love her name. I mean, how much more literary can you get than Juliet Catherine? :)
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Enjoy these special days!
I have on of those too, I just never hear her call me grammy. Congratulations Karen best to Mom and Dad.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! What on earth could a computer offer when you have such a treasure to which to devote your time and attention? Go to it! See you some time.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone. Juliet is my fourth grandchild. Each of my daughters now has a boy and a girl, all three years apart in age. Family get-togethers are crazy and wonderful! Now my son and his wife are getting "baby fever", so it looks like we might grow even more.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, my grandchildren do not live close by, but we see them as frequently as possible. I have learned from this that love spans distance and that children KNOW when they are adored! Their favorite thing to do is visit Grammy and Poppy!
For those of you with small children, I wish you strength and patience and the awareness of how very blessed you are. For you grandparents - hooray!
Ahh.. yes new babies always provoke that reaction. Im so happy for you and your family. Always a blessing, takes me back to when the twins were tiny, the baby and the knackered look!
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you lovely.)
Ccongrats, Karen- you have great baby holding hands and just the right smile. ~rick
ReplyDeleteBless your newest addition! I came right here after reading your comment on my post. Oh, Juliet! Marvel of velvet!
ReplyDeleteCheers and congratulations!
Chris
Such a beautiful blessing, Karen. You look perfectly content as does precious baby, Juliet. Makes me suddenly recall the birth of my 3 children. Their newborn skin and scent...so divine!
ReplyDeleteI always adored that name. Considered it for my second daughter, and the name Victoria, but chose Alexandra in the end.
I wish you all the joys that sweet baby will bring!
Ohhh Karen, you look so content with your darling granddaughter in your arms. She's beautiful. Congratulations to the whole family.
ReplyDeleteI hope she gets to read your precious haiku for her one day.
Your fouth grandchild... I still have it all ahead of me and I can't wait!
Thanks for sharing the lovely photo. :)
Karen, this is more than wonderful! You're so beautiful, both of you... And I love the baby's name! :-)
ReplyDeleteMaximum congratulations to the happy parents! My best wishes to all of you, and especially to the new baby girl. May she be blessed with all that's beautiful in this world.

What a bundle. :) Congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very lovely photo. You are both gorgeous. But she beats you by a small margin. :D
ReplyDeleteAm really happy for you. You already know how close I am to my grandma. Its the most treasured relationship. She never misses a day to give me a call. Ever.
Anyone who loves reading/writing would be in love with the name by default. :)
So very happy for you!
Welcome to the light, Juliet Catherine. You have a beautiful name. Congratulations, Karen. Yes, you have been busy, haven't you?
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the world, Juliet. May you someday discover the secret inheritance your grammy has been storing away and see it for the treasure it is.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Karen!! What a beautiful baby! How blessed you are to be holding her. I just love that tiny little hand curled up by her sweet face.
ReplyDeleteAnd no, you are NOT haggard. You are beautiful. I'm not saying that just to suck up or be nice. This picture would make an awesome painting. I love "rabbit soft" to describe that feeling.
Welcome to the world, Juliet Catherine. Best wishes to you and your family, Karen. I'm so happy for your excellent news:)
Best wishes to you, your family, and that adorable new one in your family!
ReplyDeleteLovely poem to her- "rabbit soft" hugs me and I also love the name Juliet.

ReplyDeletesorry - couldn't help it. congratulations on a beautiful and lucky little girl - who, no doubt, is being swaddled right back.
Hello, Everyone, and thanks for your congratulations and well wishes! I am happy to say that I'll be heading back to Kentucky tomorrow for another long weekend, so I'll get my big hands on Juliet again and sing and play with my Rock Band three year old - the only kid I know who can sing every Beatles song from beginning to end!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comments. I'll be in touch!
Oh, and I have to add, as so many of you have commented, I'm thrilled that she's a Juliet. What could be more perfect?

Congratulations Karen (Gramma)! What a cherished addition to your family. I love the haiku—something you can perhaps add to a card or image for the baby's wall above the crib?
ReplyDeleteMay you and Juliet have many more beautiful bonding moments such as this one- maybe minus the tiredness though.
