Red Fox

RED FOX

A swishing in the grass.
A small sharp face,
frozen in -- a snarl or a laugh?
Limpid golden eyes
that recognize.
A bushy beard
brushing behind,

and a bubble of joy within me
to share my place in life
with such a thing.

  1. There is such joy in sharing a few moments with
wild creatures! they are very focused and aware.

  2. Was going to say almost exactly the same as izzy - beautifully captured moment, and lovely instantaneous feel to the poem.

Wonderful Karen, you captured that instant connection, a language beyond words really.

  5. This is a happy little piece. I feel the same way when nature gifts me like this.

  6. All I can say is I like it but it made me think of diminishing habitat.

I know Gloomy Walking Man never lets up!

  7. Very totemic. Though Fox has his ups and downs, I should think. :)

  8. There is a little fox that I occasionally see trotting toward the house at twilight, like he owns the place.

  9. Everyone - I apologize for not answering each of you individually. Work and life have been crazy busy lately, and I'm hardly finding (making) time to write at all. Sometimes, I read your blogs without commenting for the same reason. Please know that I read and appreciate everyone who comments here and hope to be back around soon.
