Prestidigitation
You're delusional
he says
when I don't remember
something
he says
I said
There's no reason
to call names,
I say,
making it all
about the words
he said.
All the while,
Presto!
I pull
forgetful,
dementia,
Alzheimer's
(singular, possessive)
like rabbits
from my head.
Abracadabra! It's magic.
ReplyDeleteI was going to use prestidigitation in a poem but I kept forgetting, which, given the subject of this poem is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteMy mother and I often have this argument. I call it "sleight of memory". :P Feelin' this.
