Bend

In the soft rain
and in the hard,
the brave trees,
especially the slender willows,
sweep their long arms
with the music of the wind,
wise enough
to bend with the rhythms
of the storm.
Other things, too proud
to bow, break and blow away
while these least servants
simply and gratefully allow
the shining world to lead.

  1. You are such a beautiful poet...thank you for this. I have always had a soft spot for willows, ever since I played beneath their swaying branches as a child. Prayers for safe, speedy repair of your power grid, etc., winging their way to you, with love.

  5. Often it's better to bend with the storm rather than fight and snap the branches.Nice poem.

Yes, willows and childhood - fond memories for me as well. We can take such lessons from nature if we only take the time to truly see.

  9. That's why Willows (along with mighty Oaks) seem to endure for such a long time, they learned to bend and be flexible in strong winds.
This is a lovely read. :)

  11. What a lovely poem! All we have to do is hush our minds and listen, and we'll learn so much from Mother Nature. All around us, the intangible speaks volumes through the tangible.
